About the 6th Woodrunners
On May 30, 2008, two rovers, one from Minnesota and another from Wisconsin, came together and formed a small rover crew (adult members) with the goal of scouting as adults. The name Woodrunners, which means “travelers of the woods and wilderness”, was chosen as our name and we were the 6th group formed in the early history of Outdoor Service Guides.
Scouting and Guiding is a worldwide moment. More than 250 million young people have participated in one of the largest youth movements in human history, and, as such, 6th Woodrunners is a local chapter of Outdoor Service Guides that’s based in Roseville, Minnesota; Outdoor Service Guides (OSG-US) is an Association Member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS).
The World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS) is a UN-recognized, non-governmental, international scouting organization with 140 affiliated scouting organizations in 64 Countries.
We are not affiliated with Boy Scouts of America or Girl Scouts USA.
6th Woodrunners is the longest continuously operating local group in Outdoor Service Guides.
Our Philosophy
We, as an extension of the Outdoor Service Guides (OSG), offer a choice for those with curiosity, energy, and independence of spirit.
We are committed to providing an appropriate alternative and community-oriented guiding and scouting experience. OSG welcomes everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion (or no religion) or other differentiating factors.
We are open to youth and adults of all genders, with open and inclusive membership policies and a “back to basics” program focused on outdoor skills and community service.
